Phase 4 focuses on further developing pupil leadership of the school’s empathy work as well as deepening family engagement. Developing children’s sense of agency contributes to their desire and ability to take action and can lay the groundwork for your school becoming a major force for change in your community.

THIS STAGE



  • Use pupil voice to inform the planning of your schools’ empathy work and provide opportunities for pupils to take the lead


  • Use book-based initiatives, like Bookspotters, Empathy Awards (Primary) and The Empathys (Secondary) to develop pupil leadership


  • Highlight/ develop pupil advocacy as a way of engaging families


  • Identify ways you are going to increase family engagement with your empathy work
