EmpathyLab is delighted to be working in partnership with The Scouts.
Like us, The Scouts want to champion empathy by helping young people to step into others’ shoes, see their side, and understand how they feel. We have worked with them on the fascinating Heritage project, Moving Connections:Scouting and Displaced People.
And they have been working with us to create activities to support the Beavers Book Reader, Cubs Book Reader, Scouts Writer and Scouts Librarian Activity Badges.

EmpathyLab have been partnering The Scout Association Heritage Service in their exciting and innovative project, Moving Connections: Scouting and Displaced People.
Children, aged 9 -11 from Kenilworth Primary School, Hertfordshire used objects from The Scouts' vast Heritage Collection to learn about the movement’s fascinating past and develop their empathy skills.
Award winning children’s illustrator Jane Ray ran workshops integrating objects, stories, creative writing and art to help children explore the topic of refugees and displaced people – one of the big social issues of the day.
By helping children better understand the topic, we are aiming to inspire them to develop their own social action campaigns, whilst demonstrating the ability of stories and collections to promote empathy.
You can find out more and see some of the fabulous creative work the children have produced in response to the project so far in a fascinating article in the March edition of Books for Keeps.
