About the training

Our training sessions equip you with powerful new strategies to use books to develop young people’s understanding of empathy, and their empathy skills. Each online training is ninety minutes. Lively and interactive, our training is led by EmpathyLab’s team alongside expert practitioners in relevant fields.

Pricing and discounts

  • The cost per course is £20.00 per person *unless specified otherwise*
  • If you book a course and are unable to attend a recording will be made available 24 hours after the course date. Our courses are non-refundable – see our cancellation policy.
  • If you are currently an Empathy School, access to these modules is included. Let us know how many delegates you would like to attend in the booking form.

Relationships education

4 November 2025 – online, 4.00-5.30pm

This course takes empathy-rich books and shows you how to use them to develop children’s understanding of relationships and how to navigate the emotions that come with them. It’s suitable for anyone working with primary or secondary age children’s especially teachers and will support the delivery of key themes in the RSE curriculum and personal, social and wellbeing education

The course focuses on books about positive relationships (including with friends) families of all kinds, and respecting difference and diversity.

You will come away with:
– An understanding of the science of empathy and how books build it
– An understanding of how empathy book-talking can build relationships 
– Ideas for linking in with the relationships theme in November’s Empathy Action Month.

EmpathyLab’s short learning webinar featuring author Nicola Morgan (renowned for books like The Teenage Guide to Friends and Blame My Brain), is an impactful opportunity for educators and professionals working with children to explore how reading can nurture empathy and strengthen relationship skills. The webinar will look at how to embed empathy-focused reading into Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PHSE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curricula with book recommendations for  primary and secondary teachers
