Her new book is a funny and hopeful story of one girl’s resilience. When her mum gets in trouble, Esme is placed in foster care in this heartwarming story about finding your way through challenges, from the beloved author of the Tracy Beaker series. 
 
During the event pupils will hear Jacqueline Wilson read from her new book, share ideas about the power of reading, and have a chance to ask questions. There is no need for attendees to have read Esme Pepper in advance.

As part of the National Year of Reading, EmpathyLab, Penguin Random House Children and Durham Learning Resources (Education Durham) are working in partnership to bring special events with Jacqueline Wilson free of charge to local teachers, librarians, caregivers and champions of children’s literature. 
 
Teachers, librarians and Jacqueline Wilson fans from all generations are invited to this special evening to celebrate how reading brings us all together. After decades of writing for younger audiences, Jacqueline knows a thing or two about what gets – and keeps! – children reading.
 
Followed by a book signing.

For local schools

Schools in the North East can select up to 10 pupils (ages 8-12) who you feel are champions of reading and / or belonging in your setting, to join Jacqueline Wilson at this special event.
