Empathy Resolution

How to:

Ask everyone to make an individual Empathy Resolution. Or decide on a joint class resolution. Display these around the room or building on our special resolution bunting.

To decide on your resolution, consider what small, practical step you can take to make the world a little better. Take inspiration from some authors who have shared their own empathy resolutions

For younger children

  • once you have decided on your Empathy Resolution, write it on the bunting, colour and decorate it, then string them together and hang up where everyone can see them
  • create a competition between classes – which class has the most interesting resolutions?

For older children and young people

  • discuss what action they wish to take and why – it could be something very small, or something much larger. What change do they want to see in the world, how can they help to make that happen – small steps can really make a big difference
  • plan to return to your Empathy Resolutions in November during Empathy Action Month – how will you know if you have stuck to your resolution? What difference might you see?
