Empathy Post
How to:
Use our specially illustrated cards to write and send messages of empathy. Carefully consider who you wish to send your empathy post to, and what you wish to say to them.
You can also make your own cards, or send e-cards. Take a walk to deliver the cards, or display them as messages for your community to see.

For younger children
- send an empathy card to another class, another school, or a local group or organisation – perhaps they have had a visit from a local charity, or wish to send an empathy message to the local care home or foodbank. Allow the class to come up with their own ideas
- are there global issues the class is concerned about – what message of empathy might they share with people in different circumstances elsewhere in the world? Display these messages for your whole community to see
- invite parents and carers to join in this activity – who do they wish to share a message of empathy with?
For older children and young people
- look at some recent news stories – who do they want to share a message of empathy with?
- are there politicians or change makers they wish to send an empathy message to? Why not send a card to your local MP, the Prime Minister or another country’s leader?
- consider sending a card closer to home – what empathy message would they send to a friend, family member or teacher?
